Martin
C. Groh is a shareholder of the Firm. Marty is a member of the Firms
Corporate and Business Practice Group and chairs the Firms
Taxation Practice Group. Martys practice is focused on the
legal needs of small and medium size businesses. His broad experience
over more than 20 years of practice, plus his extensive education
in the business and tax fields, enables him to provide a wide range
of legal expertise to new and growing enterprises.
During
his legal career, Marty has served as the outside general counsel
for various businesses, including manufacturers (high and low tech),
computer services and software developers, public relations and
advertising firms, importers and exporters, trucking companies,
equipment lessors, real estate developers and builders, apparel
firms, distributors and professional service firms (lawyers, accountants,
physicians, and pension plan administrators). Marty has practiced
as a tax specialist since 1977.
Marty has in-depth experience with retirement plans, ERISA, professional
corporations, corporate and personal tax analysis, estate planning,
and tax appeals. After several years of tax specialization, he broadened
his practice to include general corporate issues, mergers and acquisitions,
shareholder agreements and dispute resolutions, executive compensation
and employment law, software and trademark licensing (domestic and
international), general business contract matters, and business
formation.
Marty received his B.S. in Business Administration from Drexel University
in 1973, a M.B.A. from New York University in 1974, a law degree
from Villanova University in 1977 and an L.L.M. in taxation from
New York University in 1980. He has taught college business law
courses and conducted tax law seminars for accountants. Marty has
written legal articles, contributed to legal treatises, served as
an expert business law witness, and appeared as a panel member on
legal education programs.
Marty is a member of the California, Delaware, and Pennsylvania
bars. He is admitted to practice before a number of federal courts,
including the United States Tax Court and United States Claims Court.
